Bank Performance in a post crisis world...Bigham Consulting publishes a range of critically influential performance benchmarks. The following customised reports are available by quarterly subscription:
Whether you work in banking or not it pays to monitor the general performance banks. We monitor the banks because it provides a good indicator of the health of the broader economy. Banks provide the credit that fuels spending. Most assets especially housing assets, are in reality worth a fraction of their market prices. Bargains in the real sense are thus pretty hard to find.
This means when banks get into trouble even a little they contract their lending. This lack of easy credit acts as a break on the economic system. It slows down business and consumer spending and thus asset prices fall as a consequence. There are a number of very important metrics that can signal the health of banks. They are impossible to measure from published financial statements in many cases due to the fact that, in spite of regulation, most organisations calculate them differently and so make them hard to compare for non specialists and probably most professionals. Yahoo finance might help to benchmark a little for most investors but it really is best to calculate them yourself to get a feel for the general and relative strength. For more on understanding these metrics please refer to the Strategy Explained section of our site... Bigham Consulting's proprietary banking performance benchmark report N-GAUGE™.
Designed to help benchmark the performance of the worlds top 10 Investment Banks, we have extended our coverage to the top 269 Global Banks.
